[00:00:21] what is the hard way of doing things the right way is really worth it, but we often don't recognize it. That comfort can be a trap that holds us from doing the things that are most important from really living out what we're called to do. [00:01:08] In today's episode about impacting the world through stewarding your talent. I talk with you about why many people have discovered that their secure job wasn't so secure in the last 18 months. I share how this is leading to some of the job issues that we see today. And I also talk about why this is why your security needs to come from other places.

I don't know about where you are, but as I drive around town, as I look at online sites for my community, and I see other things, I see a ton of people advertising for work.
[00:02:25] They're trying to get people to come to work for. And one of the reasons I think a lot of people have left some of the jobs that they used to have and aren't going back to them is because I think over the last 18 months, a lot of people have discovered that secure paycheck that they had wasn't as secure as they thought it was, or they there's a lot of folks that.
[00:02:50] As they've recognized that yes, what they had was a paycheck. It was coming in every week, every month. And I'm not even just talking about people that maybe lost their job during the pandemic, [00:03:00] or that were downsized, but people that were sent home and begin working from home, a central workers that continued to work.
[00:03:08] I think a lot of folks open their eyes to the fact that. Idea of exchanging our time for money. Isn't the only way to survive. It isn't as secure in some ways, as we think it is, all it takes is a massive event of some sort or even a small one in some cases. And that secure job can. Disappear and those skills and those talents and the effort and the work and the history that you've put in is all gone.
[00:03:41] And then finding something new can be really hard. And because of that, I think a lot of folks are recognizing. Maybe they need to go out and start something on their own. Maybe they need to work on a side hustle or have multiple streams of income, not just depend on a nine to five for their [00:04:00] one and only secure sense of income.
[00:04:04] And beyond that, I think a lot of people are also recognizing that the truth is that the security that they have. Isn't found in money. Anyway, it's not found in that job that they I've, it's not found in that business that they run. It's not found in the products that they sell. Instead it comes from something bigger and.
[00:04:27] And that bigger and better is often around the idea of relationships, whether it's relationships with each other relationships, with ourselves and relationships, with a higher power, what I would call a God, it doesn't matter. It's found in the networks that we've developed and the friends that we've had more than it is in that nine to five in that paycheck it's found outside of money.
[00:04:55] The truth is. I think a lot of us have discovered [00:05:00] in the last 18 months that some of the things that we depended on that we thought were security. Aren't that those networks that we built that maybe are dependent just on seeing each other every day at work aren't as deep as we thought they were.
[00:05:16] That's one of the reasons is we've gone to a more distributed workforce and people are working from home. I think that's one of the reasons we're having challenges around that because we hadn't actually built deep and real connections. Instead we had surface level connections and now that is exposed, that, that relationship that we had with our boss and our company that was giving us pay isn't as deep and as strong as we thought, or that the relationship we had with our customers as a client, as a business, has it been.
[00:05:49] As deep and strong as we would I think whether our business thrive during the pandemic or there were struggles, we've discovered that we have to go deeper [00:06:00] than what we used to do to really build something that is robust. And that can stand not just the normal day to day challenges, but the challenges that come along that are so big, like what we've been facing the last 18 months.
[00:06:18] I think folks are waking up to the fact that what we thought was the easy way is it, and that what is the hard way of doing things the right way is really worth? But we often don't recognize it. That comfort can be a trap that holds us from doing the things that are most important from really living out what we're called to do.
[00:06:48] If you've been struggling with that, if you feel like you've got a calling, but you just don't know how to get from where you are to there, that's the people I help and I'd love to help you as [00:07:00] well. Thanks for listening.
