[00:00:31]Scott Maderer: [00:00:31] and you have an open relationship and you hold on to money with an open hand. Strangely, you'll get more money than if you try to grab a hold of it with both fists and hold onto it with a greedy mindset or a hoarding mindset. The belief that money is a tool, not the thing that we're actually after.

[00:01:20]And today's episode about impacting the world through stewarding your treasures. I talk with you about why is money actually important? I share three reasons why money can be called important, but I also share some myths that we can have about money. And I talk about how your beliefs about money and how it works affects.
[00:01:41] If you can actually use money effectively. As we talk about stewarding your treasures. Wouldn't it be great. If you could support this podcast and do it without costing yourself an extra dime, it turns out you can. All you have to do is use inspired [00:02:00] stewardship.com/amazon. When you're ready to make a purchase via Amazon and a small commission, we'll come back to support the show.
[00:02:07] If you enjoy the show, when you're ready to buy from Amazon, just use inspired stewardship.com/amazon. In one sense, money is just a bunch of zeros and ones on a piece of paper. It's a bunch of sheets of paper with the pictures of dead presidents are pretty colors on it, but the truth is money is more important than that.
[00:02:30] In fact, the reason why money is important. And I think most of us since that is because money plays a role in our lives. Money is represent tentative of choices that we make of freedoms that we have, and of things that we look at as important money is a measure of what are the choices that you make.
[00:02:56] And in a sense, money is what gives you [00:03:00] freedom to make certain choices. If you use money then you end up reaping rewards. But if you use money poorly, you end up struggling and having a difficult time. And obviously not only how you use money, but why you use money is important. Most of us would love to have financial freedom, the ability to do what we want whenever we want it and not have to worry about money.
[00:03:31] And money in a way is important for that reason. Money is important based on how you view it and based on your current financial situation, because money controls many aspects of our lives. Money is a tool that we use. And if you think about it, the view that you have of money. Is important in one way that adds importance to money.
[00:04:00] [00:04:00] Have you ever heard somebody say, I wish I was rich. That's a view they're representing a view. They believe that somehow this aspect of richness will give them something that they don't have today. And often that comes out of a sense of jealousy, of anger, of frustration, a feeling that somehow the people that are rich didn't deserve it and got it.
[00:04:24] It's through some sort of ill gotten way. If you're struggling with money, then money tends to be on your mind each and every day. But if you've got some sense of financial freedom, then you begin to think about it less and less. And the truth is there's a good and a bad on both sides of those, because the relationship that we have with money.
[00:04:47] Affects us. We have to have a sense of balance. We have to recognize that money. Isn't our provider money. Isn't our security, but we can use money to provide for [00:05:00] us and for others. The truth is that as we gain more knowledge of money and how it works, and as we have a positive belief around money and a positive relationship, Around money.
[00:05:14] We begin to do better with money. Most people have this belief that money comes. Because of the things that we do, but in truth, money can come through to us through many different ways. And I would argue that the relationship we have with money is more important than the exact ways that we go about getting it.
[00:05:36] If you have an open relationship and you hold onto money with an open hand, strangely, you'll get more money than if you try to grab a hold of it with both fists and hold onto it with a greedy, the mindset or a hoarding mindset. The belief that money is a tool, not the thing that we're actually after helps us gain more money.
[00:05:58] The truth is our [00:06:00] beliefs affect more about how we earn money and get what we do with money than the actual money itself. You can do powerful things with very little. If you focus that intentionally. But the truth is what most of us do is use our money unintentionally. We just go through the day to day with it and we don't really reflect on what we're doing and whether or not it's an alignment with our priorities and that causes us to struggle.
[00:06:31] So the argument that I would have is the relationship you have with money. The beliefs you have with money are more important than the actual amount of money that you have in the first place. Thanks for listening.
