[00:01:37] in today's episode about developing your influence through stewarding your talent. I talk with you about why recognizing the kingdom is here and real is so important. Also share why that doesn't mean that your life will be easy and perfect as well. I talk about why this realization helps you live for the future, but have a good mindset for the present as well.
[00:02:00] [00:02:00] You've heard me talk about developing your talent and what are the best ways to do that is through books. [00:02:45] You'll notice him emphasizing the idea that God's kingdom is here. And it's real. I wanted to talk a little bit more about why that mindset can be so important for those of us [00:03:00] that are Christians. Now, I think sometimes as Christians, we live as if all of the blessings that will have come. After they come in the afterlife, they come after we've done what we're supposed to do here on earth.
[00:03:14] But the truth is that the kingdom of heaven can be realized here on earth. That's the whole point. The point is that we're working every single day to make today a little better, not just for ourselves, but for all of those people that are around us. It's not about focusing on us and making sure that we're taken care of.
[00:03:36] Instead it's about focusing on people who need help focusing on people who need support, focusing on serving others, focusing on healing whenever there's harm, focusing on getting justice. Whenever there's injustice, focus on bringing peace. Whenever there is argument and strife and pain. [00:04:00] And the truth is we aren't promised that our life will be an easy one.
[00:04:05] Again, I think sometimes as Christians, we have this idea that now I've proclaimed my faith. All of my problems will go away. Everything will be easy and perfect. And that's actually the opposite of what we are promised in scripture. What we're actually promised in scripture is that if anything, things will get more difficult.
[00:04:26] After we profess because there will be pain, there will be structuring and all of that will still be there, both for ourselves and for others. And now we also have the responsibility to actually try to begin to do something about it. People talk all the time about. How we should focus on the Bible and less on justice ministries, less on serving others are turning over things.
[00:04:51] When there's oppression, everything gets turned into a religious statement. Sometimes. Whether it's your political [00:05:00] belief, whether it's how you look at money, whatever it is, we often look at it through this religious lens and all of a sudden it becomes an argument about what it is that the Bible teaches.
[00:05:13] And I'll be honest. I don't know exactly what it is that the Bible teaches. Oh, sure. I've read it multiple times. I've studied it for years. I've talked to people that are much wiser than I am about it. And I still don't think I fully understand it. I don't think we're ever going to fully understand it because it's more complicated than that.
[00:05:33] Yeah. But at the end of the day, it does boil down to me to having a mindset that is kingdom focus, having a mindset that is growth focused, having a mindset that is service. Focused. And when you run things through that lens, it allows you to plan today and prepare today so that you can have a good future.
[00:05:57] But at the same time, it allows [00:06:00] you to live in the present. It also allows you to look back at your past and not beat yourself up for mistakes. You've made not have huge regrets, but instead focus on how all things are going to be made. Perfect. How you can take the mess from your past and even your present and turn it into something that serves others and reaches others and grows with others.
[00:06:29] All of these things fit together and that mindset, that service minded mindset, that kingdom focused mindset, because I see those two things as very related to each other. Becomes one that allows you to simultaneously prepare for the future and be okay with the fact that it's probably not going to work out exactly the way you think it should.
[00:06:52] I'm a big planner. I love. To plan. I want to make everything work exactly. Basically the way I want it [00:07:00] to work. But the problem is it never does. It never works exactly the way I want it to work. Nothing ever works the way I want it to work in a perfect way because we live in an imperfect world, but that imperfection.
[00:07:18] Does it mean that other people are evil? It doesn't mean that other people are setting out to harm others. I honestly believe that most people are trying to do the best they can with the information they have myself included. And yet we often disagree. We often see things a different way and we can talk and we can reach agreement.
[00:07:43] Or at least we can work together for those things that we do agree are important because the truth is oftentimes once you sit down and get to know somebody, you find out you have more in common than you ever believed. Thanks for listening.
