Something you have to make an impact? Does does having faith mean you're able to make an impact or without faith, can you not make an impact on the world? And I think it's true in some ways that faith is part of making an impact.
00:02:45 Now, let me be careful here, faith here. What I say faith, I don't just mean a religious faith. I don't just mean a belief in God or a higher power though. I do think that is often very important for many people. I think having a well-developed spiritual life, where you have some integrity around your values and what you believe,
00:03:07 that's really what I mean by faith here. I mean, having a system of values and things that you believe that are bigger than you having a mission, so to speak. It's one of the reasons that we've talked in this show about creating a personal mission statement about creating a mission statement for your family. Even if you don't have one as a business owner,
00:03:29 even if you're not a business owner, you still need a family mission statement. And if you are a business owner, you need a family mission statement, as well as a business mission statement. This idea of having something that is bigger than us, that we're driving towards and having the faith to believe that the things that we do today will move us in that direction.
00:03:51 That's what I mean by faith here. And I think that kind of faith is necessary for impact because the truth is, if you don't believe that the things you do today have the possibility of helping others, of impacting others, of influencing others, of developing others, of solving other's problems. That it's really hard to believe that anything you can do will have an impact back on the world,
00:04:20 that you can't make a dent in the universe without believing that you can, you know, Fe here is about, for me an integrity of spirit. What I mean by that is being the kind of person that, what you say as well. What you mean that what you do is in, in alignment with your values, that everything that you do is moving you in a unified direction.
00:04:50 And we're even people that perhaps don't agree with you. Maybe even somebody who doesn't like you still says, the one thing I can say is they have integrity. They are a whole being, they are, self-consistent the things they say and the things they do make sense. Okay. I've had that kind of situation where I've had folks where I do not agree with them.
00:05:14 I see the world in a very different way. I don't have the same values and priorities as they do. And yet I still have tremendous respect for them because I understand that their belief system is integral to who they are, that they're consistent in all things that they do, their personal life, their professional life, no matter how you see them, they are showing up as the same person.
00:05:39 And I think we also all know people where whenever you meet them in one setting and then you meet them in a different setting, they're completely different people. There's no consistency in how they act or what they do instead. There's just almost a that you, you wonder what's behind it because at any moment that mask can change and they appear to be a completely different person.
00:06:05 There's no consistency. And when we see that, we immediately begin to doubt them. And what that means is they now can't make as big of an impact. They won't have as much influence on us or on anyone else because that inconsistency is one of the things that triggers doubt in them. And remember, we've talked before about success. You can do all by yourself,
00:06:31 but significance, which I think of significance is a measure of impact. That takes a community that takes a team that takes other people. You can't do it alone. And if you're not consistent, if you don't have integrity around who you are and what you say and what you do, then you're never going to have influence and without influence, you're never going to reach significance and without significance,
00:06:57 you're never going to make an impact. So think about your faith. Think about what you believe, think about your values, and then think about what you do, what actions you take. Are they consistent? And not only are they consistent in appearance to you, not only do you see the consistency, but do others outside looking in, see you as consistent and being of integrity.
00:07:22 And if you do that, then you might begin to make an impact as a matter of faith. Thanks for listening. Thanks so much for listening to the inspired stewardship podcast.
