I am so excited to be here. Thank you so much, Scott. So, Heather, I know you talk a lot about how your work with social media can help Christian business owners have a lasting kingdom impact. What would you share with someone who is just starting out and struggling to see how they can have an impact that really matters.
00:04:08 What that impact is and what that impact looks like on a daily basis can feel very differently. So one thing I would like to say is,
00:04:18 if you're listening to this and you might be a believer and you say, Hey, I'm a Christian,
00:04:23 I've got this business, whether it's new or striving, But we don't post viable versus I want you to know that that is not a reflection on whether you are or you are not a Christian business owner.
00:04:36 Some people may be the actual decision maker, and they can make that choice, and it can or cannot be,
00:04:43 a Ford facing part of your brand. But I want you to know that you can very much so have people engaging with you and meetings by the way that you do your pitches,
00:04:54 by the way that you engage with people face to face the way you conduct yourself at retreats and people can still say there's something of different about them.
00:05:03 I'm just so impressed. Maybe it's the integrity. Maybe it's the customer service with just excellence. Maybe It's the way that you just shine a light on other people doing great things.
00:05:14 But it's like a the end of the day. You still have got the ability to be a light for Christ,
00:05:20 whether your quote, posting Bible verses or not. And I also would like to encourage everyone to say,
00:05:28 You know, that impact, that legacy impact, What does that actually even mean in your business? And so I'll give you a real example someone I know that was looking to hire someone to come in and create some marketing materials for a promotion that she had,
00:05:43 and she was taking some What's the word? Quotes? She was taking some quotes from some dip from different people that she had actually gone onto.
00:05:52 Social media found the couple recommendations, and she ended up getting like to final ones that she really liked their products.
00:05:59 One basically made it super visible in their marketing that they donated a portion of their proceeds to fight human trafficking,
00:06:09 and the other one didn't now the one that had, like the stance of trying to fight human trafficking,
00:06:15 was I not substantially more. But it was maybe like $100 more. Most my friend ended up going with in doing business with the brand that had that stance of something they stood for and so quote human trafficking.
00:06:30 You know, I know people that aren't Christians that are huge have the kids of hating just the concept that that even exists,
00:06:36 right. But her, as a Christian loving business owner, felt that her dollars going towards that. So then,
00:06:45 even though that's something someone else did, she incorporated that in her messaging and said, Hey, if you join this program,
00:06:53 I want to let you know that we have got not on Lee business going towards this organization that's helping fight human trafficking.
00:07:00 But we've made a desire to say We want to be like, do a partnership with them So we're gonna like on top of that,
00:07:07 make a donation. So it's like the little things that you can do to say This is what we stand for because,
00:07:14 see, we live in a world Scott where everyone wants to be really loud with their against. We're against this.
00:07:19 We stand for this or I believe that the Bible says this, but I think that there's such an opportunity as Christ followers on hash tag team Jesus,
00:07:28 saying like, This is what I am four. So I'm four Christ. And so I am for this type of thing or I am a huge advocate for adoption or I'm a huge advocate to help,
00:07:41 you know, feed the homeless. And all of these are good, not necessarily like Christian issues. But I believe as Christians,
00:07:49 when we leave, when we leave like a legacy and we're leading with integrity, we make those a priority and those could be differentiators that can make someone hire us.
00:08:00 And I'm not saying we're doing it from, like, a marketing like Let's do this just so we can get attention.
00:08:06 But those airways that you can have dollars in your business going towards something that we know that God would love for us to help,
00:08:15 like completely rid from the earth. And so I wantto one of the things I would love to just say,
00:08:22 because I don't want anyone to hear me think that what I just said only applies If you make $100,000 or more,
00:08:30 I don't care if your business is currently making $5000 a year. You have the ability to be taking steps right now to make that legacy and kingdom impact.
00:08:41 You don't have to wait. So you just have reached a certain income. Maybe which you can give might be more once you've made more.
00:08:49 But you can begin those like principles now and really make that be a part of what you and what your business stand for and include that messaging on social media.
00:09:00 So if someone is really looking at that and they're hearing what you're saying and they want to make a dent in the universe,
00:09:08 they want to make a lasting impact or leave a legacy. What are some of the top principles that they need to focus on to be able to do that?
00:09:18 Yeah. I mean, I think I think in general, and I don't necessarily have this personal experience,
00:09:29 but I think some Christians have this look. I think some Christians have a rap overall, as maybe being I don't even like to say this out loud,
00:09:43 but it's like I hear this. I hear people say, you know, Christians are cheap. Are Christians sometimes don't believe in business that they can thrive and be successful because like they're doing this in the name of leg saying like I love Jesus So it's like almost like this unspoken God,
00:10:02 that if I love Jesus and I am doing a work that I believe can help people or can even have this kingdom impact of helping others know about Jesus,
00:10:12 that is somehow wrong or immoral for me, Toe to be profitable, refer to be making money and for me to have six and seven figures.
00:10:21 So I would just like to discredit that and say, I don't believe that. I think that is a poverty mindset that is of the world.
00:10:28 That is just kind of like Craig crapped its way like into the mindset of how some Christians think and believe.
00:10:37 And so I think the mindset you just mentioned is huge. I think people often times have a poverty mindset and they don't even realize it.
00:10:46 But it's It's not that they have a negative outlook on life. It's sometimes just what your life is,
00:10:52 so it's like I am a child of a father who was raised by, you know, in the Great Depression,
00:11:01 and so my dad, like, constantly has got what this save money saved money, scared to spend it because his whole life was like having nothing.
00:11:10 And so it's like he's got money. But he scared to spend his money. But it's based, I believe on,
00:11:16 like this fear of everything he knew his whole life, which was that money was like something had to work super super hard for.
00:11:23 And once you get it, you just hold on to it because you never know what's gonna happen. And so I think that anyone listening today,
00:11:31 I think that you could be empowered to just really lean into this idea that you serve a big God and to really say,
00:11:38 if God, who created the universe who knows every detail of your life, who really cares about all the tiny details if you're really dreaming big enough because that's something if I'm just being honest,
00:11:53 I don't think I if I even look back on my life. Even when I was a younger Christian,
00:11:58 I wasn't dreaming big enough of what God could use me for. And I think that was sometimes my own insecurity of thinking like poor little old me like Is that who God would really used to,
00:12:12 like, create a movement toe like help Christian business owners. And so what? God has just completely blown anything I even had imaginable out of the water.
00:12:23 So I would just really encourage people to say, Stop putting your limiting beliefs that you've got and stop putting those limitations on God and then just backing up in making sure like James,
00:12:36 15 tells us tow like seek God for wisdom. So no one is sitting here telling you because you love Jesus that you're on team.
00:12:45 You supposed to know everything the minute you show up in your work. But make sure that you are inviting God into your life to say,
00:12:53 like, I have no idea what you want me to do or to pursue or to create. Or should I do this,
00:12:59 or should I do that and to build into your business, time for you to actually just pray and be still in tow?
00:13:07 Listen and stop trying to hustle your way to that next thing that you're trying to accomplish. So, Heather,
00:13:18 if you could travel into the far future, let's say 50 100 years from now and you got a chance to look back on your life.
00:13:26 What impact do you hope that you've left in the world? You know, I feel like I hope that I've left my Children with this idea,
00:13:38 that they can love Jesus and that they can create a life that is like a blessing to their family.
00:13:48 Like that's something. I pray that if I look back, you know, my kids were never gonna look back and say,
00:13:53 Man, I wish Mom had worked harder to get more people in her academy. That's not what I want.
00:13:58 And so I want my kids to look back and say, like my mom was present with us and with our family and that she was helping other people with the gifts that God gave her and that those people then would be able to just continue on and say,
00:14:16 I want to be able to be the parent or the wife of the leader in my community. Be a light for Christ,
00:14:22 but continue to just, you know, use your gifts because we all have different gifts, and so for us to stop wanting what everybody else has,
00:14:32 and I just wouldn't want to be able to look back and say I I said, This is how God made me.
00:14:37 I embraced it and I leaned into God's strengths. Tell me, execute those to help other people. So what's coming next for Heather,
00:14:47 is you continue on this journey toe, living out your call and impacting the world. You know, you put the book out,
00:14:53 you've got the academy going. Your business is growing. What's coming next? Yeah, so that's a great question.
00:14:58 So for right now, I feel like I'm really just leaning into serving more people that genuinely are wanting to grow their businesses.
00:15:09 But they're really just like at a loss of what that really looks like on a day in and day out basis to use social media.
00:15:18 I love to say that I don't just want to say I learned social Media five years ago, and then everything I'm doing is based on old knowledge.
00:15:26 So I love the idea that I have some done for you clients that keeps me just like in the trenches of like,
00:15:33 this isn't working. This is working, which I feel makes me more knowledgeable and better able to be equipped to hurt help and serve people.
00:15:41 And I'm just really praying and doing more speaking events that are ultimately getting me in places to just help people that right now I may not necessarily be able to reach them.
00:15:55 Just based on, like, I'd say so to say, Look, my exposure, if that makes sense,
00:16:00 it just kind of like leaning into the doors that God just continues to open. So, Heather, thank you so much for sharing such great information.
00:16:09 Is there anything else that you'd like to share with the lister? Yeah, I would love to encourage anybody that if you need help with saying to yourself,
00:16:18 What can I be posting on Social media? That is strategical. That's gonna help me get leads, and it's gonna get me more engagement that I've got a completely free 31 day content calendar,
00:16:31 and you can get that by going to sweet tea social marketing dot com forward slash content calendar. And that's a pdf that will come straight to your email once you sign up for,
00:16:43 so yeah, and if anyone reads my book, I would love to hear from you and please, if we got connected because of Scott,
